Charities seeking knitters

Christian Hope International Their Stitches of Hope project requires hand-knitted goods for containers going to India and several countries in Africa.
Bonnie Babies Bonnie Babies makes and sends tiny premature clothing and sadly burial outfits to UK Special Baby Care Units, also to parents who need this support.
Charity Clowns Hope and Aid Direct loved the knitted clowns they were given launched the clowns website to encourage more knitters. Knitting clowns is a real challenge, but think of the smiles they'd bring.

Operation Christmas Child is a world-wide operation. Most UK shoe-boxes go to Eastern European countries where EU regulations unfortunately mean that they cannot include hand-made stuffed toys. i.e. teddies.   If you would like to knit something for a shoe-box there are plenty knitting patterns including glove-puppets on their website.

Making blanket squares? Ensure they're all the right size by knitting them diagonally.
Cast on 1 stitch. Increase, by knitting into the front and back of the loop. Continue to increase at the beginning every row row, until the side is the correct size. Work one more increase row. Then decrease by knitting two together at the beginning of each row until 1 stitch remains. Break off yarn and draw through the final loop.
