Teddies for Tragedies

If you'd like to help bring more smiles to children world-wide you've come to the right place.

Millions of children world-wide have loved teddies knitted using this simple charity knitting pattern.

Teddies for Tragedies is not a registered charity. it is just a pattern. This website helps knitters get in contact which the causes that need our teddies. Contact the site to help increase the network. You don't need to be UK based there are knitters in France Malaysia and USA already and causes all over the world.

If you'd like to find out more about the Charities that help get our teddies to needy children, here's a few of them.
Mercy Trucks is a small charity based in Hexham Northumberland they do great work - visit the website to find out more.   
Mercy Trucks 		The Rotary LifeBox helps those in need by providing basic provisions that we take for granted but are so desperately needed by those affected by earthquake, flood, drought and war.   
LifeBox 		When your family has lost everything, you can share your troubles with your teddy.   
ShelterBox 		Albert Camus, the French Philosopher said that where there is no hope, we must invent it.   
Hope and Aid Direct 		Recently Education Action have sent teddies to Sudan and Uganda.   
Education International 		Women and Children in Africa - Working to alleviate hardship and suffering by funding projects which provide a sustainable benefit and help give women and children in Africa a better quality of life.   
WACIA 		Imagine ships crewed by doctors, nurses, water engineers and agriculturalists visiting some of the world's poorest countries. Now imagine their life-changing services offered free of charge...   
Mercy Ships 		Grassroots is a Christian charity focused on enabling and supporting individuals to know and serve Jesus better.

Bantul Kindergarten Project 		Project Peru is a totally voluntary Guildford-based charity supporting a children's refuge in the desert shanty towns of Lima.

Please don't send unsolicited teddies to charities. They may not have storage facilities and there is a limit to how many a charity can cope with at one time.
Check with the website and your teddies will go where they're needed.
Also keep a look-out in local papers, they are a good source of new outlets.

Charity Clowns 		IInterpal is contacting returning nationals to help send teddies to children in the occupied territories.   
Interpal 		Twenty-four hours a day children scavenge over 600 hectares of stinking, disease-ridden, rotting garbage in search of any scrap that can be sold for recycling. For only one US dollar children work 12 hours a day in the intensive heat, often collapsing through exhaustion and hunger.   
Cambodia's Dump Children 		Send a Cow is a Christian charity that enables poor farmers in Africa to become self-reliant by providing them with livestock, training and advice.   
Send a cow 		Spirit Aid is dedicated to the Children of our World whose lives have been devastated by war; genocide; poverty; abuse or lack of opportunity at home and abroad.   
Spirit Aid 		During the Christmas term of 2005, a school in Lymington, Hampshire included an activity where the children knitted squares to make into blankets for AIDS orphans in South Africa.   
Knitting for Charity 		Through entertaining and informative educational puppet shows, No Strings aims to foster landmine safety awareness, bringing HIV education and AIDS information to children and teaching them about street kids' issues.

Healing Hands 		Afghanistan is, without a doubt, still one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. Estimates suggest that around ten people every day are being injured or killed by landmines or unexploded ordinance (UXO).
